In the Land of the Lacandon

In the mid-1930s Bernard de Colmont ventured into the borderlands of Mexico to study the Lacandón people, considered to be the closest living relatives of the Maya. In the Land of the Lacandón transforms de Colmont’s narratives and images into a 1930s adventure comic, accompanied by a historical essay and a poem by Tsotsil writer Manuel Bolom Pale.

La mijlocul anilor 1930, Bernard de Colmont s-a aventurat in zonele de granita ale Mexicului pentru a studia poporul lacandon, considerat a fi cea mai apropiata ruda in viata a mayasilor. ,,In Tara Lacandonilor" transforma naratiunile si imaginile lui de Colmont intr-o banda desenata de aventuri din anii 1930, insotita de un eseu istoric si o poezie a scriitorului tsotsil Manuel Bolom Pale.
