Let me begin by saying as a student of history (interest in Russian history) when reading about a historical figure or era either on the internet or in a book the individual should accept what's presented with some amount skepticism. Simply put what is one man's lie may be another's truth in the retelling of the story you must look between both statements to see the actual truth. In what is now a series of fictional books I set out to give Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Tatiana and her sister's they're voice's back. These beautiful highly educated intelligent young women did care about what was happening in their country and its impact on their countrymen. In the telling of her story the primary object was to present her as normal healthy young women who had strengths and weaknesses as we all do. I started out with three basic questions:
1) What was going on with Empress Alexandra mentally and her growing infirmity's that incapacitated her?
2) What did Rasputin use to exert his control over Empress Alexandra?
3) Why was the entire Imperial Family murdered by the Bolsheviks?
I worked as Clinical Social Worker for many years while researching for the series I formulated several clinical theories which I don't believe have been explored. The apparent P.T.S.D. of Empress Alexandra she suffered an early childhood trauma when her mother died of diphtheria in 1878. It's recounted she went from being a very outgoing happy child to being sullen and withdrawn this may have been compounded by an anxiety disorder. After arriving in Russia and marriage to Nickolas Alexandra had very few friends in the Russian court she was often referred to as that German you couldn't trust. When the war broke out with Germany the rhetoric against her intensified rumors were spread that she was sent by Germany to exert her powers over the weak Nickolas to claim Russia for Germany. Her depression is apparent after producing four healthy girls then having a son who had a form of hemophilia so debilitating, he may never reach his majority. We know that Alexandra was highly educated and interested in medicine she knew Alexia's condition was incurable. In her anxiety and subsequent depression, she may have talked herself into believing God was punishing her for some indiscretion in the pass. When Alexi had a bleed as with her Mother Alexandra would be the only one who would nurse him. The intense nursing would exhaust and incapacitate her with severe migraine headaches that resulted in outbursts of anger. Imagine the impact this had on the family dynamics she was often overheard scolding the four daughters and berating them for being normal healthy girls. They learned at an early age to walk around on eggshells to avoid making her angry during these times. I think Nickolas himself also suffered from a form of anxiety disorder in many candid pictures he's smoking cigarettes in some pictures even lighting a new cigarette from the finished one. He was deeply in love with his wife and would do anything to make her happy it was common knowledge he was not fond of Rasputin but tolerated him because of her.
