In the town of Lost Way, PA, Chance McElliott lives in his family estate with his cruel caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Murdock and their son and Chance's lover, Francis Murdock. As his twentieth birthday nears, a stranger comes to their door and turns Chance's life upside down. The man, T.J. Dumas, has come to pay tribute to his dead friend and lover, one Francis Murdock!Francis confesses to Chance that he is indeed a ghost and cuts Chance off, sexually. Soon, Chance finds himself on a road trip to the small Connecticut town in which Francis was murdered. There, he and T.J. gather up Francis' group of Misfits---Diogenes, a man who lives his life as a woman; Ash Montgomery, a fierce female warrior; Bethany, a psychic; and the 'twins', Monroe, who sees the past, and Mansfield, who sees the future--- and returns with them all to Lost Way.Chance is delighted with his new family. They all play and love together. Chance discovers he has a talent as well. It seems he has the ability to ease the suffering, the baggage, his new family is saddled with. He also discovers that Bethany is being hunted by her ex-lover, a sadistic serial killer, who will stop at nothing until has tortured and killed her for her desertion of him.Throw in a couple of ghosts, trips to the past and the future, and it's one hell of a ride.
