Nuclear Energy Safety Challenges In The Former Soviet Union

Fifteen nuclear reactors of the type that exploded at Chernobyl in April 1986 are still operating in Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania, who refuse to shut them down. This report defines policy options for the acceptable resolution of the nuclear-power safety issues facing the former Soviet Union.
