Communication Workshop at “Scoala altfel”

Go back to that class you liked in school. You’re sitting in your school desk right now and your favorite teacher is in front telling you about something. It must have been important since you remember it after this much time! You’re smiling; a warm feeling of content overtakes your mind. It’s great to have a memorable class or a memorable teacher. We were lucky enough to be part of such a moment during “Scoala altfel”.It went something like this: a very enthusiastic teacher (Mrs. Carmen Ana Tot) invited us over to participate with an “interesting” activity. At the time we had no idea on what activity we were about to make happen. As we discussed more and more, things began to take shape. Next thing we knew, Okian was is Targu Mures holding the Communication Workshop. So here’s what everyone thought about what went on: “THANK YOU ! The workshop was a success!

I was impressed by -  the way in which the topic was dealt with and the new language was introduced to the students; -  the realistic and dynamic presentation; -  the tips given to the students in order to improve the way in which they communicate; -  the well – chosen activities that caught the students’ attention throughout the workshop; -  Mrs. Monica Bularca’s smiling face and positive attitude (CONGRATULATIONS!) I believe that the picture I have chosen illustrates best the way in which my students felt during this workshop: some really had a great time and were easy-going, some others were more reserved but liked the activity a lot!

Carmen Ana Tot – English Teacher at "Transilvania” Economic College

My students’ opinions about the workshop they attended: It was something new; something was different about this activity. It’s that little element that makes a class special, the sense of humor. I didn’t expect to feel this good while learning. This kind of teaching should be done more often, so that students won’t be bored during school. Communicating with students is really important, and we did it in a funny way, children are more willing to talk when they get a prize, no matter how small. It was really interesting, catchy and I would really enjoy doing this again sometime. (Denisa Rusu –X B) It was a very helpful activity where I've learned how important communicating is. I've also learned that we tend to not pay attention to the way we communicate and we don't know how to listen the others. This activity made me realize that if I want my message to be sent perfectly I have to consider all the rules of communication, which have been shown to us and explained in an easy, funny way. (Alexandra Dimbean – X B) The activity was very interesting and it helped me to improve my communication skills. People should attend more often this kind of activities. (Pop Cristian – X B) The communication between the trainer and the students was clear and the group interaction was good. The workshop was helpful and funny because, we played different communication games. I think that this kind of activity should be organized more often because we learn helpful things for our lives. (Pop Cristina – X B) I really liked the class we had about communication. It was an open conversation and the trainer’s attitude was a good one. She managed to make us willing to cooperate very well. I also believe we’ve learned a lot from this class, so as a result I can only say I’ve really enjoyed it.  (Dan Andrei – XI A) I learned a lot of useful information and I liked the trainer because she was friendly and communicative. I’d like to repeat the experience another time. (Oprea Andrei  - XI A) I liked the teacher and the project that she presented. Also the little games that she prepared for us to learn more about communication were great and educative. I felt good because I saw that my colleagues enjoyed this important lesson, and that we left the class with happy faces. The last game with the crossed hands was very very funny because everybody was trying to resolve the task in his own way, but in the end when we decided to work as a team, we succeeded. In one word, everything went just GREAT as everybody has expected. (Palosi Orsolya – XI A) In my opinion the workshop was a great activity and I am glad that I took part. It showed us how complex communication actually is. Also I liked the fact that the teacher of the workshop was very friendly and, in my opinion, that was very important. The thing I liked the most was “the rope game” because it involved a lot of communication and group work. (Radovivi Tudor – XI A) I think that the workshop was an amazing opportunity to learn things and to develop our skills in communication. It was a new and interesting way to learn how to communicate better. I liked the advice given, the way that the “teacher” interacted with us and made us a part of the “lesson”. Also I liked the games which helped us understand. I would like to participate to another workshop because I had a good time learning new stuff. (Ghira Crina – XI A) In my opinion the communication course was pretty cool. It was very interesting to study communication from A to Z, I learned a lot from the course. In conclusion, I’m happy that I know to speak English in order to participate at such courses. (Cocis Ovidiu – XI F) At first I thought that it was going to be boring but then the trainer started to talk and it was so much fun talking to her and I enjoyed every activity and I paid attention and learned new things about communication and people’s way to think and at the end I was really happy that I participated and I’ll be waiting for the next workshop. (Filip Dan – XI F) This experience isn’t available every day for everyone so I’m happy that I could be a part of it and I hope that someday it would happen again if it is possible. (Pop Nidia – XI F) At the beginning I was thinking that it will be boring, but it wasn’t, and I was very happy that I participated. ( Curtifan Dan – XI F) I think that the English workshop was the most interesting, interactive and useful activity that I have ever taken part in. I would participate anytime at an activity like this. (Fagaras Serban – XIF)” We would like to thank everyone who participated in our workshop and we hope we gave you one of those memories that make you smile in the years to come…
